Siding Installation That Seals New Walls Against Wind and Rain

New Walls Clad for Homes Across Northwest Florida and Coastal Alabama

Our siding installation service puts vinyl or fiber cement siding on walls that have none yet. That covers new construction homes, room additions and other buildings. Siding is the outer skin of a wall. It sheds most rain and blocks wind before either reaches the wood. We build the layers behind it first, so water that slips past can drain back out.

Our main storefront is in Pensacola. From there, we install siding on homes and buildings in Cantonment, Gulf Breeze and Jay. We also work across the rest of the Alabama and Florida Gulf Coast. You hear from us at each step, from the first talk to the last row.

What's Included

How We Install New Siding, From Bare Wall to Final Trim

Before siding goes up, we make the wall flat and dry. Bumps in the framing or sheathing would show through, so we fix them first. Then we wrap the wall, flash the openings and set the trim pieces. Installing siding on the Gulf Coast means planning for salt air, heavy rain and hurricane wind.

What a Careful Install Does for Your Walls in Wind and Rain

A Bottom Row That Stays Put

The bottom row of siding locks onto a starter strip along the base of the wall. We use a starter strip made to fit the siding you pick. J-channel or trim used in its place can let that row blow off. Staggered seams also keep one weak line from running up the wall.

Flashing Corners, Windows and Roof Lines

We flash each inside and outside corner at least 10 inches on each side. Windows and doors get flashed to the window maker's instructions before trim goes on. Where a roof meets a wall, step flashing goes in before the siding. A kickout flashing at the bottom turns that water into the gutter.

Keeping Siding Dry Before It Goes Up

Siding should sit flat, dry and covered on the job site until it is hung. Fiber cement planks put up wet can shrink and open gaps at the joints.

New Builds, Additions and Outbuildings Getting Their First Siding

On new construction homes, siding goes on after the walls are framed, sheathed and dried in. Weather Tech Roofing can handle both the siding and the roof on a new home. A room addition needs siding that ties into the old walls with no gap for water. We also side other buildings on your property, such as a detached garage. Every one of these jobs gets the same wall layers behind the siding.

On a new home, timing matters as much as the wall itself. Heavy work like drywall and roofing should be done before vinyl goes up. That weight can squeeze the floor framing and buckle vinyl at the floor line. Fiber cement needs set gaps above the ground, patios, steps and decks. We plan those gaps before the first plank goes on.

  • Vinyl lap siding on new construction single-family homes
  • Fiber cement planks on a new room addition
  • Gable ends and upper walls on new two-story houses
  • Detached garages and workshops getting siding for the first time

When does siding go on during new home construction?

Siding goes on after the walls are framed, sheathed, wrapped and flashed. For vinyl, it helps to finish drywall and roofing first. Their weight can settle the floor framing and buckle vinyl hung too early.

Is new siding rated to handle hurricane winds?

Many vinyl siding labels list a design pressure rating for the wind it was tested to handle. High-wind products and nailing steps vary by maker. We match the product and fastening to the wind exposure of your walls.

Do I need house wrap under new siding?

Yes, new siding goes over a water-resistive barrier, often called house wrap. Siding sheds most rain, but some water can still get behind it. The wrap and flashing send that water back out before it reaches the wood.

How is flashing installed where a roof meets a siding wall?

Step flashing goes in along the roof line before any siding or J-channel. At the low end of that roof line, a kickout flashing turns water into the gutter. Without it, water can run down and soak the wall below.

Can a siding installer make a new addition match the house?

Yes, if that product is still made, an addition can get the same material and style. Older siding may have faded, so new panels can look a bit different. We point out any likely color difference before work starts.
